Portraits

Well the gang from Michigan arrived yesterday..... Grandma, Aunt Dana and Uncle Rich, and Maleena. Aunt Dana and I had planned in advance to take Kaleb and Maleena to have their picture taken together so Grandma would have a nice picture of them together.

Tomorrow we're going swimming at the hotel Dana and Rich are staying at. It will be Kaleb's first time in a swimming pool. I'll try to get pics.

Close Encounters of the Marsupial Kind

Okay.... So I went outside to hose down the "patio" and clean the birdbath. I went to put something back behind the shed, and figured I'd check to see if there was any evidence that the kids have still been cutting through our yard. When I pulled the bushes out of the front yard because they were dying, I threw them in the corner behind the shed to block the kids' path. And when I went out there today, I saw something in one of the bushes. I wasn't sure what it was. Thought the kids had been out there and left something.......

When I got about 3 feet away, I realized what I was looking at..... An opossum! It was just curled up and sleeping there. I couldn't believe it slept through me walking out there in my flip-flops. It wasn't like I was quiet. Since I didn't wake it up, I went to grab the camera and got a couple pics. Then I went back to work.

A few minutes later. I turned around and saw sleepyhead staring at me....

Then it went under the shed (not IN it, thankfully). And I came in here to share it with you.

Busy Boy

Kaleb was pretty excited that it was FINALLY nice enough outside that we could go out for a walk! And he didn't have to wear a jacket or anything! Unfortunately, it's been rainy the last couple days, and is supposed to rain quite a bit over the next week. Sunday is supposed to be nice though, so maybe after Mama gets out of work we can all three go out for a walk together.

Does anybody have Pepsi on sale this week? I'll check Kroger's ad and you can check Jungle Jim's.

Let the Games Begin.....

Well, I'm sure you'll all be glad to know that Karl did JUST FINE with his babysitting duties. It wasn't EASY, since when Bryce started crying, it set Kaleb off too. But both boys lived to tell the tale. LOL

Been kinda busy lately trying to get things ready for my family's visit. We're having a birthday party for Maleena while they're here, so I've been making decorations and stuff for that. Between that, working, taking care of Kaleb, and keeping up with the normal stuff around the house... WHEW.

And Kaleb is getting to be quite the man around the house. Emphasis on the "around the house". He gets anywhere he darn well pleases anymore. Doesn't let anything stand in his way. Yesterday he was literally following me around the house. And one of his favorite games is "turn off Daddy's computer". I've noticed that he seems to prefer to attempt crawling when he's either in just his diaper or naked. As soon as the weather warms up, I'll strip him down to his diaper and let him go.

Well, gotta go for now, so here are a few more pics for your viewing enjoyment.....

What can I say? He's a MUNROE..... (note: spoon in EACH hand)

10 Months old!!!!

Get Ready....

Last night as I was changing Kaleb for bed, he decided to roll over onto his belly before I got his pajamas on him. So instead of trying to wrestle him back over, I decided to let him play a minute. And wouldn't ya know, he decided to start trying to crawl! He got up on his hands and knees several times. And we could tell he was trying to figure out what to do next. LOL He's gonna be crawling around here before we know it!

I was SO glad that Karl happened to be home at the time. He's on jury duty this week, so he's not working his overnight job. Otherwise he would have missed it! (Karl was pretty happy too LOL).

And in other news...... Karl is going to have his hands FULL this afternoon. He's babysitting our friends' little guy Bryce, age 1. Bryce is walking and LOVES to get into stuff. Oh to be a fly on the wall for this.... hehehe. Actually, I think Karl will do just fine. But it will let him get a taste of what he's in for when Kaleb starts getting around.

For the Love of a Dog

"A good dog brings so much to a family. Soft and warm, with eyes so bright. Companionship, love. Long, quiet walks. Shared rainy morning jaunts with soggy ears and muddy feet. Purebred, mutt, it doesn't really matter. So many breeds. They all give us unconditional love. It is indeed a dog's life. And we're lucky to share it."

We were indeed lucky to share the life of Oliver, who was put to rest today at the age of 9. He was a great dog and will be greatly missed.

Oliver's life was not an easy one. At the age of 2 (or was it 3?) he had surgery on his knee. He had problems with one of his feet for a while after a log landed on it and split his nail up into the toe. We took him to the vet once with a mystery injury on his hindquarters ....... the vet said he was probably shot with a bb gun. And he was once lost for 5 days after he was let outside unsupervised and wandered off.

Ollie was such a good dog too. Okay... so when he was young he ate all the fake apples off the Christmas tree, and then knocked the tree over trying to chew on the lights. And yes, he would get a loaf of bread off the counter and eat it if you left it out when you went away. But he was a GOOD dog.

I just know that Oliver is now in a place with woods to run in, and sprinklers to run through, and hoses to drink from, and couches to lay on with warm blankets to snuggle under. And I'm sure he's already hooked up with Gizmo, Einstein, Tucker, and Jasmine.

God Bless you Ollie.... we miss you.
