When the Bed Bugs Bite

Ok, so maybe we should sign up for the frequent flyer program at the Urgent Care.

Yesterday morning Kaleb woke up with a bug bite a little to the left of "right between the eyes". I didn't think too much of it, figured something got him during the night, and dabbed a little hydrocortisone cream on it. Well TODAY when he woke up it looked a little puffy over toward the corner of his eye. So I gave him some benadryl and we went about our day. After lunch, he went down for his nap and I went to do the grocery shopping (don't worry, Dad was home). When I got home Kaleb was just waking up from his nap and his eye was almost swollen shut and it was turning pink. So off to another lovely weekend at the Urgent Care. At least this time we knew which one to go to. We got right in, the doctor looked at it and said it looked like infection was setting in, so he wrote a prescription for an antibiotic. We also had the staples from LAST week's trip taken out while we were there.

Other than THAT.... not much going on here *SIGH*

A Not-So-Fun First

Yesterday morning I got up, and went to work. About an hour after I got there I got a call from Karl. While Karl was in using the bathroom, Kaleb had been standing in the Bubba chair (pictured here) and fell and hit his head and cut it open. So I left work, came home and looked at it, and thought it could use a stitch or two.

SO, we headed to urgent care. Signed in and waited about 5 minutes, then found out they didn't take our insurance. So we headed for ANOTHER urgent care. This one took our insurance (whew!). We got in to see the doctor, and he said he would be putting a couple staples in. So we had to help hold Kaleb down while doc put the staples in. Poor little guy, he was so brave. Even the doctor was impressed with how well he did.

SO... 3 hours, 2 urgent cares, and 2 staples later . . . . . I went back to work. I think Daddy actually was feeling worse than Kaleb was when I got home. He was pretty shook up. Kaleb on the other hand.... still trying to stand on anything and everything. The tub of baby wipes, his toys, ANYTHING. It doesn't matter how many times we tell him "no", give him a swat on the butt, and get him down.

The Bubba chair, however, has been put away for awhile.
